Morgan Boharski. "Women and Weaving in Medieval French Literature." Honors Thesis.
For my honors thesis, I intend to research the role of women weaving in medieval French literature as an emulation of depictions of women found in Classical Antiquity. Using examples as found in works by Marie de France and Marguerite de Navarre, as well as various excerpts from myths of Homer and Ovid, I will create a linear connection between the two eras. My emphasis will be placed on the importance of weaving as women's major form of communication, their tool for writing, and their productive benefit to the oikos.
