Prerequisites and Language Requirements
Credits and Conversion Scale
L'École de langues allows you to register for 4-5 courses per 15-week semester. Fall semester runs from early September to mid-December and Winter semester runs from mid-January to late April. Courses are separated into 5 levels that allow you to progress from beginner to a B2 level.
In order to maintain full time status, you'll need to complete at least 120 hours of study. Students who have applied through UW Study Abroad, in addition to Laval, for 3-4 courses will earn 18-24 UW credits, most likely of French 199, 299 or 308/390/337. Other UW credits may be awarded. The actual UW credits you will earn will be determined after you return to the UW and will depend on the French you have completed prior to the program and the level(s) you will complete in Laval.
