Minor in Italian Language & Culture

The minor in Italian Language & Culture is in the process of being revised and thus we have below a provisional set of required courses for the minor. The following course requirements will allow to complete the Italian minor but they have not been finalized in the University catalog or Degree Audit System as of yet. If interested in declaring the minor, please contact the advisors of the Humanities Academic Services Center to discuss at has-center@uw.edu. Students planning to  graduate in 2023 will need to meet with an advisor to ensure their courses can fulfill the provisional course requirements for the minor.

The minor is open and has no minimum requirements. Students can declare the minor with the advisor in their major department. 

Provisional Required Courses (25 credits)

  • 15 credits from ITAL 201, ITAL 202, ITAL 203

  • 5 credits from ITAL 351, 352, 353, 354, 355, 356, 357, or ITAL 399

  • 5 credits of electives (see advisor for approved list of electives)

  • Minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA for courses applied to the minor

  • Maximum 10 credits of approved study-abroad coursework may be petitioned to apply to the minor.

Please Note: 

  • ITAL 201, 202, and 203, must be taken in sequence. 
  • Please send the syllabi and any course materials for courses taken while studying abroad to the HAS center (has-center@uw.edu) for credit evaluation.
