Biography
I am a lifelong, passionate polyglot! I went to St. Lawrence University, earning a bachelor's degree with a Multi-Language major (studying French, Spanish, and Mandarin Chinese) and an Educational Studies minor. I even had the opportunity to take a Brazilian Portuguese class! During my junior year, I had the chance to study abroad in Rouen, France. We also traveled to different sites throughout Normandy, Paris, and even a week-long excursion to Senegal. During the summer of 2011, I took a Quebec Studies Summer Seminar, an intensive course at McGill University, mainly in French, that introduced non-Quebec students to Quebec and Montreal's history and culture, with an emphasis on French language skills. I also attended Middlebury Languages Schools for Spanish during the summer of 2014 and French during the summer of 2022. I spoke only the target language during these seven-week intensive immersion programs. I took various courses and participated in activities that helped strengthen my French, Spanish, and knowledge of the Spanish-speaking and Francophone worlds.
After graduating from St. Lawrence, I was a teaching assistant at Lycée Aristide Briand, one of many schools within the Académie de Rouen. I worked with high school students. My job was to assist in the teaching of English in the classroom. I gave the students opportunities to speak English through homework help, discussions, debates, games, and presentations related to American culture. I received this position by applying to TAPIF (Teaching Assistant Program in France), which allows Americans to teach English to French students.
I am happy to answer any questions about Middlebury Language Schools or TAPIF!
I currently live in the Seattle area with my fiancé and our two cats. In my free time, I enjoy learning foreign languages, singing, listening to music, dancing, reading, watching movies, watching Seattle Reign FC soccer, Seattle Storm basketball, musical theater, and traveling.
