Alice Bruil, a Global & Regional Studies major with a concentration in Africa and Health & the Environment and minors in both French and Global Health has been named as a recipient of the Boren Undergraduate Scholarship for 2024-2025!

Alice is one of just two UW students selected for this award which provides funding opportunities for U.S. students to study languages and world regions critical to U.S. interests. Alice plans to study in Senegal through the Boren African Flagship Language Initiative, which will immerse her in French while also exposing her to Wolof, which is the native language of over 4 million people in Senegal. After her trip, Alice plans to utilize her language and cultural knowledge to engage in a federal career that promotes collaborative relationships between countries to address environmental concerns. Congratulations Alice!
