(Re)Imagining the Romance-speaking world: origins, space & memory

The Graduate Student Committee of the Syracuse University, Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics is pleased to welcome paper submissions for the following areas:
In linguistics we are looking for papers that address any form of linguistics research including, but not limited to: theoretical linguistics (phonetics & phonology, morphology, semantics, syntax), applied linguistics (language teaching & language acquisition, pragmatics, discourse analysis, translation studies, socio- and psycholinguistics), historical and comparative linguistics.
Moreover, presentations might include any Romance language(s) of your choice, as long as linguistics is a concern within the chosen language (e.g. French phonology, Italian syntax, Spanish morphology).
In literature and culture we are open to a range of paper topics dealing with Hispanic & Lusophone literatures and cultures, French literature and Francophone Studies, Italian Studies and any Romance language(s). We encourage proposals to explore topics in the context of Peninsular, Latin American, Mediterranean, Caribbean, African, or Trans-Atlantic regions. All work should be original and previously unpublished.
Topics of interest and approaches may include, but are not limited to, the following fields and themes:

Submission guidelines:
Papers may be in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Italian, Romanian. Please submit an abstract of no more than 250/300 words to romlangcolloquium@syr.edu by August 21, 2022.
In the body of your email message, please include your name, area(s) of study, email address, home institution and department, title of your presentation, abstract and short bio.
As this is the colloquium’s first edition, no fee will be required from the participants. Individual paper presentations should last no more than 20 minutes.
