Associate Professor Louisa Mackenzie has written a chapter in an edited volume, forthcoming with Classiques Garnier. The book is entitled "Théories critiques et littérature française de la Renaissance. Mélanges offerts à Lawrence D. Kritzman", a collection of essays exploring some of the approaches to French Renaissance literature developed by Professor Lawrence Kritzman.
Professor Mackenzie's chapter is entitled "La masculinité itinérante du Journal de voyage de Montaigne." It is a study of the relations between gender and travel in Michel de Montaigne's "Journal de voyage en Italie", showing how masculinity is performed through a certain relationship to travel, and how this relationship anticipates the modern distinction between traveler and tourist.
