New Study Abroad Program to Université Laval in Quebec City

Submitted by Michael Rich on

Starting in Summer 2020 there will be a new direct exchange program to the Université Laval in Quebec City, Canada. This program is specifically geared to students who would like to focus on French language acquisition. It is tailored to each student's language level, and allows them to take content courses designed for speakers of French as a foreign language. The École de langues de l'Université Laval offers a team of experienced teachers and enthusiastic monitors ready to give solid training in French. Alternating between courses in classrooms and socio-cultural activities allows students to learn and practice in French in a motivating setting.

The University of Laval ensures that students experience full immersion in a cozy, dynamic, and secure environment. Known worldwide for its rich history and European charm, Québec City is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage treasure. The city on the St. Lawrence River offers exceptional quality of life and affordable cost of living and tops the list of Canada’s safest urban centers. The Université Laval campus offers an outstanding and safe study and living environment. With its greenspace, woodlands, and extensive network of foot and bike paths, its North-American-style campus and its buildings are easy to navigate and access. The campus is close to the city center and well integrated into the community, with a rich cultural, athletic, and social life in one.

This program is the result of efforts made by Principal Lecturer of French Hedwige Meyer and Associate Professor of French Rich Watts. We would also like to recognize Laval’s l’École de langues in the Faculté des lettres et des sciences humaines, Rachel Sauvé, Mike Renes, manager of UW Partner and Exchange Programs, and the UW Canadian Studies Center for their work to make this exchange possible for students.
