In lieu of a traditional exam, we encourage MA candidates to complete holistic research projects that reflect their interests and professional goals. Some projects are public-facing, some are more traditional research papers. Here are some examples of recent MA projects.
- An adaptation of existing first-year French language instruction materials to formats that can be digitally delivered.
- A digital Omeka exhibit of 17th-century fashions, using the plates from the Mercure Galant.
- A bilingual online technology glossary
- A research paper on the poetics of biosensing
- Two critical translations
Our MA graduates continue to PhD programs, professional Masters degrees, and to successful academic-adjacent or other careers. For example:
- Middle and high school French teaching positions in public and private secondary schools
- Full-time position in voice interaction design
- Full-time position in video game translation
- Masters in Teaching program
- Doctoral programs in Second Language Acquisition and Teaching, Human-Centered Design and Engineering, and French
