We are pleased to announce the fourth annual French & Italian Studies Academic Awards! The FIS Academic Awards are a chance for students to be officially recognized for their excellent work  in French and Italian studies courses, have their projects showcased on the department website, and receive a cash prize.

All currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate students who have completed a project in a French & Italian Studies course in spring 2023, summer 2023, autumn 2023, and winter 2024 are eligible to submit one project for consideration. Examples of submissions could be recorded presentations, well-written and researched papers, or other creative projects that exhibit innovation (in any format or medium).

Upload your project on the Microsoft Form here and complete all of the fields with your personal information. The deadline to submit your project is April 15, 2024.

The FIS faculty Award Committee will review all of the submitted projects and make a selection of award winning projects to be honored and displayed on the FIS website. The cash prizes are as follows; $200 for first place, $175 for second place, and $150 for third place. Runners Up will receive $100. Prizes are supported by the generous donors of the Gloria and Daniel Woodward Endowed Fund.

Curious about what kinds of projects you might submit? Last year's winners can be seen here.

Please note that by submitting your project you consent to having your name and project publicly displayed on the FIS website if your project is selected as an award winner. If you have any questions or concerns please email frenital@uw.edu.

We look forward to seeing your projects, best of luck!
