Alumni Update: Pippa Marple

Submitted by Amanda Demeter on

We recently checked back in with French graduate alum Pippa Marple, who has had an exciting year since graduating last spring. She shared the following update with us:

"I graduated from UW in June 2022 with an MA in French Studies, where I focused on French to English translation. Since then, I've moved to York, England where I started an MA program in Art History and began working at the Alliance Française de York. There, I've been able to use the second language teaching skills I developed at UW as I teach beginner and intermediate French students (and I'm also working as an administrator - mainly assisting students and facilitating social activities). Despite this busy schedule, I've managed to continue honing my translation skills and am excited to share that I was accepted to the Bristol Translates Summer School in July 2023. I'll spend a week in translation workshops learning from seasoned professionals, as well as attending networking events and industry talks. I look back fondly on my time as a student in the FIS department and all I learned there (which I am continuing to apply to my work today)."

Thanks for letting us celebrate your accomplishments, Pippa, and congratulations on all you've achieved!
