Apply Now for Rome in Residence Program in Spring 2022!

Rome in Residence is UW’s campus abroad located in the ancient heart of Rome just off the Campo de’ Fiori. This program is open to pre-majors and students in any major is a way for students to study at our UW Rome Center for a full academic quarter (ten weeks) in either Winter 2022 or Spring 2022, making Rome their classroom!

  • Any student can apply! The program may be particularly attractive for freshmen and sophomores looking to complete Gen Education and Area of Knowledge requirements
  • The program offers five 5-credit UW courses (VLPA, I&S, English Composition)
  • Participating students choose three courses for a full ten-week/15-credit program
  • There are no prerequisites for any of the courses
  • All our courses are about Rome (Architecture, Art History, Communication, Italian, and English Composition). All our instructors and credits are approved by UW departments
  • Courses cover a wide range of topics including architecture, art history, travel writing, and communication as well as elementary Italian language
  • All courses provide opportunities to explore Rome as part of an immersive and inspiring curriculum
  • Courses are taught by Rome-based instructors with deep experience and knowledge of the city, its history, its cultures, and its people
  • The program fee is $7,500 which includes instruction and housing. (Participants pay the program fee in lieu of tuition and remain enrolled at UW full time.)
  • All Pell-eligible students who apply by the priority deadline and are accepted to the program will automatically receive a $2,500 scholarship from UW Study Abroad
  • Priority application deadline for Winter 2022: September 1, 2021
  • Priority application deadline for Spring 2022: November 15, 2021
