This course will investigate the themes of friendship and betrayal in the turbulent world of medieval Italy providing readings in poetry and in prose. We will analyze the historical context and discuss the literary strategies through which authors such as Guinizzelli, Cavalcanti, Dante and Boccaccio state their cases. Taught in Italian.
