On Monday, May 15 in Walker Ames Room (Kane Hall) the Center for West European Studies and French & Italian Studies will co host a post French election discussion panel. There will be a reception from 5:30 to 7:00pm and then the panel discussion from 7:00 to 8:30pm.
French & Italian Studies department chair, Rich Watts will start with an assessment of the French election outcome from a domestic French perspective. DAAD Visiting Assistant Professor Frank Wendler will discuss the meaning of the elections in a wider context for Germany and for right wing populism in Europe. Visiting EU Fellow Ernesto Peñas-Lado will provide the elections’ implications for the future of the European Union. After the individual presentations, Director of the Center for West European Studies and Associate Professor Professor Sabine Lang will moderate a discussion.
